As with all the other positive reviews I don't have anything extra to add EXCEPT CHOOSING THE CORRECT SD CARD for this and any other quality camera using HD video recording. If you wish to make video recordings of a longer duration than 25/35 seconds, make sure you choose an SD card that is a MINIMUM CLASS 4. I recently bought this camera, a case and an 8 gb SD card as advertised by Amazon stating most people purchase it 'when buying this camera' (which happens to be a CLASS 2). When my recordings were being cut short to less than half a minute, I scoured the internet to see if anybody else had this problem-and yes they had-but no answers as to why. After scrolling through the Canon literature, in the small print it tells you quite nonchalantly "don't use an SD card of a lower value than Class 4 or your recording could stop at any given time.." - this quote isn't verbatim but is the general crux. I am not forwarding any blame on Amazon or Canon but I think that there should be a recommendation of a minimum value SD card and what would happen if you ignored the advice.
Of course, should you wish to make 'mini recordings' of just a few seconds then the standard Class 2 is for you. Needless to say, there is a jump in price for the higher Class 4. I hope this review is of help to anyone about to choose this or maybe any other quality camera that has the fabulous HD feature.

This is a great little camera with the emphasis on little! One of the neatest packages imaginable, it has the lot including 1030 video! If it has a fault, it's that it is not quite quick enough to respond for, say wildlife. There is a definite lag after you press the shutter release whilst it focusses and works out exposure. I tried to photograph some dolphins jumping and all I've got is tails in the water!

Brought this as a replacement for my ixus 100 as it went missing, vast improvement on an already great camera. quality of pictures are amazing,size is perfect to carry anywhere without overloading your pockets, very fast in turning on, ready almost instantly to take pictures.
Loads of functions to play with and it's got a bit of manual control aswell.
Pictures not quite as good as my DSLR but my DSLR cant fit in my pocket and take pictures discretely without drawing attention to yourself.

I bought this to take away on a cycling holiday since my Nikon DSLR is too big and heavy for that kind of travel.
Look-n-feel and user interface:
I absolutely love this little camera!! The body is small and really elegant and weighs so little that the case I bought for it is heavier. The buttons are well placed and easy to reach. I didn't have any problems using them but I do have small hands. The user interface is very intuitive with all the functions available from the wheel on the back. I've printed the manual but that's really more to find out if I've missed any little tricks.
Functions:
This camera offers an amazing amount of control bearing in mind its size. A good ISO range although it obviously gets grainy at the top end. Exposure compensation. White balance controls. Choice of focussing options. Single or continuous shooting. Colour settings allowing you to choose anything from black and white or sepia to vivid, normal and many more. The programme options provide a wide range from indoors to people to low light. There are a couple of funkier options including triggering the camera when someone smiles but I haven't used those. Excellent zoom range. Great view-finder on the back - wondered if it wasn't going to be a little small, but it wasn't.
Usage:
The camera turns on very quickly and is ready to go in a second. There are multiple programmes covering all kinds of scenarios; over the space of 3 days I tried out (i) indoor low lighting at a circus (ii) in bright light at the seaside on a sunny day (iii) in the rain (iv) in situations of light and dark areas in the frame. In all situations I was amazed at how well the camera coped, especially at the circus where we weren't allowed to use flash so only had ambient lighting available. The only negative is that picture taking is a little slow so you have to anticipate the action and shoot a second before something happens. That was only an issue at the circus trying the catch the trapeze act (and I did manage to get some really decent shots) and at the seaside trying to catch waves breaking against a pier. Again I got some good results once I got used to the "rhythm" of the camera. Now that I'm used to the camera, I would even take it away on safari although I'd use the DSLR for faster subjects like leopards running.
This camera will come away with me many, many more times. in fact, it will probably live in my handbag for all those shots you see on the way to work and think "I wish I had my camera with me". This little Canon IXUS 130 is the perfect all-rounder for me.

This camera is fantastic. I have had many camera's in the past including Sony. But this is by far the best one that I have had.
Cannot recommend it enough..
